Two years ago, I wrote this post about some books you could read for Halloween. I’ve decided to update the post with a few more books I’ve read that could also fit the season.
So here we go!
Again, I’ll start with some spooky and suspenseful reads.
The Book of Cold Cases: By day, Shea Collins is a receptionist at a doctor’s office. By night, she is a popular blogger who runs a site called The Book of Cold Cases. She writes about true crime, her way of coping with being a player in one as a child. Her two worlds collide when she meets Beth Greer, the last member of a prominent family in their Oregon town. Back in 1977, Beth was accused of being the Lady Killer – the murderer of two men who left behind taunting notes. Though she was ultimately acquitted at trial, suspicion has followed her since then. She decides to tell her story to Shea, who realizes that there is more to the story than anyone has known. Will she be able to tell the truth – or will some force make sure the truth remains a secret?
The Lost Melody: Accomplished concert pianist Vivienne Mourdant is surprised when she becomes the guardian of a ward at Hurstwell Asylum. When the asylum insists her ward doesn’t exist, Vivienne goes to investigate herself. But powerful forces conspire against her and she soon finds herself an inmate at Hurstwell. Will she be able to figure out the asylum’s dark secrets and bring light to its patients? Or will she succumb to the darkness and madness herself?
The Last Tale of the Flower Bride: A scholar specializing in fairytales and legends marries a mysterious woman named Indigo on one condition – he never asks about her past. But when they return to her childhood home for her aunt’s last days, he realizes he needs to break his promise and discover what happened to her friend Azure. But will learning this secret not only end his marriage but his life?
Now, three fun and magical reads!
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches: Witches like Mika Moon have a lot of rules to follow, rules that guarantee that her life is a lonely one. But when she is summoned to serve as a tutor for three young witches, she starts to question the rules. Will her experience validate everything she’s been taught? Or will she come to realize she doesn’t have to live her life alone after all?
Not Your Ex’s Hexes: With her sister Violet now the Prima Apparent, Rose Maxwell struggles to find a new direction for her life. When she ends up doing community service at an animal rescue owned by half-demon veterinarian Damian, she finds a distraction with both the animals and their sexy doctor. He also introduces her to the world of supernatural bounty hunting and she finds she has a talent for it. But as everything falls into place, Damian has a secret that could destroy everything.
Not Your Crush’s Cauldrons: Olive, the third Maxwell triplet, always assigns her class an assignment to challenge themselves to get out of their comfort zone. This year, she decides to do the list along with her student. Her friend and new roommate, Bax, agrees to do it with her but hides important information from her – namely, that he’s been assigned as her guardian angel. As they complete Olive’s list, will their relationship become more than it is?
Happy Halloween!
