Title: The Thanksgiving Hookup
Author: J. Sterling
Publisher: J. Sterling
Year: 2023
Genre(s): romance
Part of a Series: Kinda.
Why I read it: Wanted a nice holiday read.
Summary: Skye’s plans for Thanksgiving are ruined when a snowstorm grounds all flights. She and the rest of her flight crew manage to get hotel rooms as accommodations start to dwindle but it means she will have to spend the holiday with the airline’s resident playboy, River. But with the close proximity make her see him in a new light or will she join his list of broken hearts?
Review: I honestly thought this would be a little more erotic and more of an enemies-to-lovers plot than it was. It wasn’t – and that doesn’t mean it wasn’t bad. I just was expecting more and needed to recalibrate my expectations.
So if you’re looking for a steamy enemies-to-lovers story, you might want to keep looking.
Now, let’s discuss the book J. Sterling did write.
It is a very quick read (though it took me over a month to read but that was just me) and a pretty good palate cleanser if you’ve been reading some heavy material. It isn’t entirely just fluff but pretty close to it. Sometimes, that’s all we need.
Both Skye and River are good characters but I feel like Sterling should’ve stuck with one as a narrator rather than bouncing between the two. It would’ve made a reveal later on a lot bigger and not as obvious since we were in both heads.
Especially because the reveal involves a big misunderstanding.
Since I really don’t have much more to say, I’ll just get to my bottom line and end this review.
Bottom line: A good fluffy read for the holiday, especially after some more dramatic or angsty books.
Sex: At least one scene but I’ve read steamier.
